Dr. Nick Cresswell
Principal Engineer - Subsea Systems and Station Keeping
Nick is the technical lead within Sustainable Marine for anchoring, mooring systems, and the associated subsea tooling required for the station keeping system installation and maintenance. Nick has ten years of research, development, and implementation experience within the tidal energy industry, having completed a PhD in tidal energy device hydrodynamics and power capture at Durham University, before joining Sustainable Marine in 2015. Nick also has a background in Civil Engineering, which he has put to use in the development of Sustainable Marine’s proprietary subsea anchoring solutions.
Nick is a member of British Standards committee PEL/114 for marine renewables and sits on the technical committee for IEC 62600-10, “Assessment of mooring systems for marine energy converters”. Nick is also a trustee board member for a postgraduate student charity at Durham University.
Nick is based in Edinburgh and is keen climber, cyclist, and runner, who is always keen to get outdoors at any opportunity.
