Candice Russell

Supply Chain Manager

Candice manages logistics and the supply chain for Sustainable Marine. She has twenty-five years of experience in the delivery of high performance vessels and components, including the production of high-strength and lightweight deck hardware made from exotic alloys for racing sail yachts, and carbon fibre for offshore racing powerboats. Candice has been with Sustainable Marine since 2013 and plays a critical role in the team, ensuring that our designs can be realised into reality.

She started her career in a drawing office but soon found herself drawn to the shop floor, becoming a Production Manager, manufacturing lightweight custom hardware for high profile racing yachts for the likes of the America’s Cup,

Including the only three original J-Class yachts, Mirabella the largest single-masted yacht ever built, where she was also responsible for installation of the hardware on-site. Candice also managed the delivery and installation of the titanium hardware packages for King Juan Carlos of Spain’s high-speed superyacht Fortuna, which had engines that could deliver22,660hp installed, and achieved a top speed of 70 knots. She was then recruited to manage the supply chain for a builder of high-performance powerboats; the XSR48 and Interceptor. These sleek carbon fibre hulls were designed by the legendary Fabio Buzzi and featured on the TV programme ‘Top Gear’ where they raced a Ferrari Daytona from Portofino to Saint-Tropez and won.

When the opportunity arose to put her practical skills and experience to be part of a challenging marine engineering project that would have a positive impact on the environment, she literally dove right in – obtaining her commercial diving and powerboat qualifications so that she could support the team on the first set of installations trials for Sustainable Marine’s first tidal platform in the Solent. She has since been responsible for the procurement, production and delivery of both PLAT-I tidal energy platforms.

Candice holds a Higher National Diploma in Production Engineering from Bournemouth University. She is based in the Edinburgh office, and when not a work enjoys going for adventures on her electric mountain bike, stand-up paddle boarding and wild swimming.
